Trenches near Gommecourt

A view looking down into a trench which temporarily houses the company cookhouse of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade. Helmeted soldiers prepare meals in very cramped conditions with only pieces of wood and corrugated iron above for protection. A large iron pot full of potatoes? and a meat grinder are visible in the foreground.
